Highways
We all know that Kynnersley is a small village, with a main route through and a few side roads. Our roads are, in the main, just lanes, often single-track with limited passing places. The Parish Council asks that everyone drives with care and consideration for other road users, pedestrians, cyclists and some horses on occasions – and to be aware that we live in an area surrounded by farmland. The regular use by tractors, with trailers or implements, takes its toll on the road surfaces, but their use is essential and we thank all the drivers for their care, when travelling through the village and passing residential properties.
The poor condition of Kynnersley Moor Road (to Crudgington) and the road from the village to Preston does slow down the traffic. However, it is absolutely essential that everyone using the roads realise just how dangerous it can be if they do try to drive at speed.
The Parish Council continues to ask TWC for essential repairs and for signage to warn visitors to the Parish of the hidden dips.
The Parish Council is to work in partnership with Waters Upton Parish Council to provide a part time Speed Indicator Device, this will be installed for two to three weeks, every now and then, to highlight the need for speed awareness and it will be sited close to the Village Hall to slow down the traffic on this straight stretch of road where more pedestrians can often be seen and where there are no footpaths.
May we take this opportunity to thank residents and visitors to consider the width of the road if they have to park on the road. Also, to keep footpaths clear so that pedestrians, sometimes with pushchairs, can pass safely.
If you have any concerns to comments, regarding the highways and footpaths in the Parish please contact the Clerk or come to a Parish Council meeting.
